Modern clinical studies have shown that essential oil of Equisetum arvense possesses a broad spectrum of a very strong antimicrobial activity against many bacteria and fungi including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella enteritidis; Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans.
